Bro. Russell Jones was born June 19th, 1970, the only survivor of identical twins.  Due to an extremely low birth weight and numerous health problems, he was not expected to survive his first few days of infancy.  His heart actually stopped beating countless times in the hospital incubator.  Doctors told his parents there was a strong probability that he would go blind in childhood and possibly never walk or talk. 
     At 18 months, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and permanent brain damage due to an injury he sustained during delivery.  His parents were told to expect severe mental retardation.  However, God had other plans.  Russell began to talk at the age of 1, and to read at the age of 3 and also walk that same year.

     After graduating from public high school in 1988, he attended technical college and held numerous positions in manufacturing.  Ever discontent, he sought fulfillment in the pleasures of this world, but was always left empty.  In spite of a trip to the alter in a Fundamental, Independent, KJV preaching Baptist Church at the age of 5, there had never been any real indication that God  had wrought a true work of redemption in his heart.

     At the age of 24, sin sick, broken, and at the end of himself, he cried out to God just seconds before taking his own life.  God began a work in his heart that day which soon brought about true repentance and sure Salvation.

     Bro. Russell surrendered to the call to preach in 1997, and served for Six and a half years with Alamance Rescue Mission in Burlington, NC.  God allowed him to fill many pulpits during those years as an itinerate preacher.

     In 2003 God called him to Bible College.  He graduated in 2006 with a Graduate of Theology diploma.  He served as interim pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC until God called him to serve at Lighthouse Baptist Church as the Youth Directory and Music Director.  He is also privileged to teach Bible and History at Heritage Christian School. 

     God gave Bro. Russell his beautiful wife Amanda in Dec. 2007, and the Lord has blessed them with their 1st child - a son - David Leland Jones- who will arrive in late October 2009.

     Bro. Russell's life verse is 2 Samuel 9:13 - "So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet."
